eLearning helps achieving Education for All and raise the quality of education. MKFC Stockholm College funds Teacher Training in Somalia (13 teachers), Pakistan (13 teachers), Tanzania/Ghana (10 teachers) and are soon about to start in Burkina Faso, Palestine, Nigeria and Sri Lanka.
Globally, 10.3 million teachers − 1.3 million teachers each year − need to be recruited over eight years (2007-2015) just to provide universal primary education by 2015 according to UNESCO Institute for Statistics. The greatest challenge is in sub-Saharan Africa.
UNESCO emphasizes not only the number of teachers but also the importance of quality. Great demands are made of teachers today. In our rapidly changing and interdependent world, teachers not only have to ensure that students acquire solid skills in basic subjects, but also that they become responsible local and global citizens, at ease with new technologies and able to make informed decisions about health, the environment and other challenges. Teachers play a leading role in giving students the knowledge, attitudes and values that help them understand the world and become agents of change
